Our company, Máquinas Piratininga do Nordeste S.A., was founded in 1964, amid the canefields around Jaboatão dos Guararapes in the State of Pernambuco, in the North East of Brazil. Initially, we built machinery for the local sugar mills. The millers not only crush sugar and refine it, but use it as raw material for distilling alcohol.
We have always sought to widen our share in the machinery market, to cater to the needs of a wide range of industries. This has meant that we have had to steadily develop our technologies, so we could keep the leading edge with our product.

MPN became part of the Votorantim Group in 1987. Votorantim is the largest industrial conglomerate in Brazil. Its products range from cement through paper to chemicals and aluminum, and beyond.
After we joined this senior Group, we widened our horizons toward further developing technologies and quality. Our enhanced quality system gained recognition in 1988 from PETROBRÁS, the Federal Government oil concern, which at that time was setting the pace for quality systems in Brazil. We achieved the international ISO 9001 standar. In 1998, the Company has been re-certified by the american company ABS Quality Evaluations Inc. with a valuable 3-year period more.

We owe much of this to our team of 300 skilled operatives, who run our 13-acre site, and to the high priority they give to quality as the key factor in our continuing evolution.
